I love to comb flea markets and occasional sales for unique old furniture, then bring it back to life with vibrant yet aged colors. I am particularly drawn to pieces with charming turned legs —
it’s easy to tell where the name "Fancy Legs" comes from!
It’s a long, labor intensive process to become a Fancy Legs product. Pieces are cleaned and sanded and primed. Base colors are added next, followed by the dots, checks, stripes and swirls. On top of that, of series of glazes and dry brushing are added to give the piece an aged and distressed look, but with bright colors. Finally several coats of Minwax Polycrylic are applied for protection.
Another love of mine is fabric. For chairs, footstools and tuffets. The piece heads up to the sewing room to incorporate a cushion with designer fabrics and trims.
